I removed my faucet for cleaning, and noticed some Gunk and fuzzy stuff around the outer coupler connection. Is there any way I can remove the coupling nut and get at it without removing the whole shank from the collar? I am trying to get between the coupling nut and the next ring (the one with grooves the faucet attaches to)

I don't think you can take that outer ring off without removing the shank. On mine it will only come of by removing the shand and sliding it off backwards. there is a lip on the faucet end of the shank that it tightens against when you attach the faucet. Otherwise the faucet would just fall off.

I would pull them off and give them a good overnight soak in One Step or your cleaner of choice.

I do that with mine every few months.

you I think you're right I have to remove the shank. Sigh. Thanks!
