So, I've had Galena planted in my backyard for what is now the third season.
The first year I planted and was convinced the rhizomes had died. Second year I was surprised to get some growth from them so I didn't trim just to let it get its bearings in the soil.
This year I didn't get a chance to really set up a trellis, but there was a ton of growth. I didn't trim, just let it run wild.
So I went to check out the yield and it looks like it's about 3/4 of the way to forming cones. Its been like that for about a month now so I harvested maybe 1/8 of it and got about 3/4 of a grocery bag full. There's no real bitter smell to them really.
So, I'm kind of baffled. Are these hops good to use? Was not trimming them what caused them to not form full cones?
Thanks!
