Home method to gauge AA%?

Does anyone have a home method for gauging the AA% of their homegrown hops?
My guess is to sniff or soak some in water. I suppose some known ~AA% hops are needed to calibrate you're senses?

Sniffing isn't going to tell you much about AA%, better to make up a tea from a known AA% of the same strain and the home growns and compare them. Inexact, to be sure, but it should get you in the ballpark...
