I have a 1990's fridgeair mini fridge kegerator. On the lowest setting it freezes the beer inside the keg. The only cooling unit is the freezer compartment which hangs from the ceiling. Is there anything I can do to insulate this as to prevent future beer from freezing inside the kegerator or a temperature control?

First thing I'd do is check the temperatures for the lowest setting. If beer is freezing, then you should probably up the temp to something higher (I hold most of my beers between 40 and 50 F, depending).

Next, you could attach a temp controller (e.g., this http://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Controls-Digital-Thermostat-Control/sim/B00368D6JA/2)? That would be an easy way to fix the issue (I went this way with my keezer).

Alternatively, you could try the techniques found in this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/gu...mostat-32f-eliminate-external-control-249612/ It may not be spot on for your fridge, but there may be some parallels to help you with temperature management.

A fan to move the cold air around from the freezer compartment to the rest of the chamber should help keep a uniform temperature throughout the kegerator as well, with or without a new temperature controller. It should mean that the thermostat is getting an accurate reading of the temperature in the kegerator.
