I have grown some nugget hops. I want to formulate an ipa recipe using these as the bittering hops. How should I calculate the alpha acids on a hop that will not be lab tested?

I'll take a trip to the LHBS, look at that strain, and assume the low end % range. So if Cascade is 4.5-7%, you're probably more towards 4.5%. As above, a few ibus here or there are no big deal when it comes to homegrown hops.

I used my Nugget in a black iPa, and it was killer. Looking forward to some Nugget porters and stouts this winter.
