Davy here,
been stalking since the spring.
made the "mistake" of walking into the brewstore in Islip.
Was looking for a "beer in a bag" as a birthday present for a buddy,
He Lives in Eastchester/ New Rochelle that
has a craftbrew store that is filling growlers.
Figured he had the time to brew his own.
Ended up buying him the "Joy of homebrewing"
Uncle Randy never got to open his present….
My Sis worked at the Vermont Pub and Brewery,Burlington
also at the Irene destroyed "Alchemist"in Waterbury
Newark Delaware has a kicking brew pub too, Smoked Porter…..
and a reason for the roadtrip and couch surfing at another Sis's house
I was around for the now defunct Huntington Brewery
that was located in the old Dairy Farm off the railroad tracks.
I think Patchouge and BluePoint morphed from there
Just waiting for the weather to break on Long Island,
too warm to ferment on the floor in my apartment i think
I havent made into Karps in E.Northport.
I'm going to Kit it, with the 6gal pails.
Wind my own wortcooler, for now,
don't dig the icebath and the wait
Extract till I'm comfortable with the sanitary and the process.
Bake Bread so me and yeast have a friendly understanding
I'm a Switchback and Heady Topper fan..
None of which are available on "Wrong Island"
Brightwaters bevy was a great selection to bide my summer time
Feed my Hop Head and collect 20oz bottles to fill.
I'm a Tinker by trade so Allgrain is calling, or is it the building of it?
A trip to the Local Hops Farm out east on my Bucket List.
Somehow I don't think the mortally wounded LIPA will be too happy with
Me growing on their poles.
Cablevision wasn't too happy with the wildroses, but neither was I with their billing practices.
Peace and Hello, Davy

I havent made into Karps in E.Northport.

I live pretty close to Karp's. It's also a good, old fashioned, independent hardware store. You know, with counter guys that actually understand what you're asking for. A rare thing these days.

Their homebrew portion of the shop looks pretty humble (it's in the back), but they have most everything you need and have storerooms full of equipment.

Yeah, Karp's is great. Alan is very helpful. And with all the hardware supplies, you can build just about anything.

Looks like the OP already found Arrow in Islip. Other places I've made it to were Kedco in Farmingdale (pretty good grain selection but no liquid yeast), Brewtopia in Port Jefferson (not really worth the trip for me), and Glen Cove Homebrew (nice selection all around). There's also a new shop opening up in Baldwin, but there's no grand opening date announced.

I just stopped in to East Coast Hydroponics and Homebrew, today. They've been dealing hydroponics supplies for years. The homebrew suplies are a more recent addition.

Maybe not worth the trip into Queens for the selection of homebrew supplies, but they can fix you up with what you need to grow hops in the closet in your apartment. Some of the indoor grow setups are very neat. I did say I am a gear slut.

On the westbound LIE Expwy service road (Horace Harding Expwy) just west of 148 St.
