Okay. I understand - so it's a slightly different process. Sorry i'm pretty new to all this. So if i follow the extract version. So I'm a little confused, do these steps seem correct?
1.) Adding crystal 80L, Munich and victory in the muslin bag and steeping it in 150-155F for 30 minutes
2.) removing bag
and draining into boil kettle Just steep the grains in the pot you will use for boiling in, there's no reason to use a second pot here
3.) adding extract and letting it dissolve
4.) turn flame back on and bring to a boil
Stir it and watch it very carefully, it will create a ton of foam and you will need to remove it from the heat if the foam starts to rise. A boil over is a very sticky mess
5.) adding 0.5 oz
Warrior hops to grain bag to boil pot at the beginning of the 60 minute boil.
0.5 oz
Centennial hops to grain bag to boil pot with 20 minutes left in the boil.
0.5 oz Centennial hops
to grain bag to boil pot with 10 minutes left in the boil.
0.5 oz Centennial hops
to grain bag to boil pot with 5 minutes left in the boil.
6.) letting it cool afterwards to 64F then add to fermentor?
Yes - but make sure the pot stays covered so that it does not get bacteria in it while it cools
(am i supposed to add the hops to the grain bag or remove the bag with the crystal, Munich and victory, and add the hops right to the mash? thanks.
You add the hops right to the boil - you are not doing a mash
