Hi there. My wife and daughters bought me a Mr. Beer LBK ACL kit for Father's Day and my first batch (doctored with a secondary fermentation after day 5 of 1/4 honey orange rind and roasted coriander) was a hit with all tried it. Now I'm on my 3rd batch. Was my first attempt at partial mash. My wife love Coronas and Miller Chill so I made this one for her. She wanted a name for it so here goes.
Batch #3 / Limelight Ale

6gal Partial Mash Chelada Ale

1 can ea of HME ACL & Azteca
Mashed with 1 lb 6 Row & 1 lb flaked corn.

5 qts water heated to strike temp

20 min protein rest 123
13 min beta at 140
25 min at 155

Mash out to boil - about 30 min

1 lb. Breiss Pilsen Light DME

23 minute Hop addition boil

1/8 oz US Hallerttau hops 23

1/8 oz US Hallerttau hops 7 min

Juice of 3 limes at flameout & frumunda yeast as nutrient

1.041 OG

1 packet US-05 pitched at 68 degrees and fermented at 61.4-62.9 7 days primary fermentation.

Added 5oz. Organic orange blossom honey & 1 cup lime juice & rind boil (7 limes) for secondary fermentation & changed airlocks.

Correction: the hops were Czech Saaz. I saved the Hallerttau for a lager. Debating whether or not to dry hop with a small 1/8 charge of more Saaz after fermentation slows from the secondary for 3 days and then maybe cold crash before bottling.

Seems like a beer my mother in law would love. Welcome!

I can't tell if that's an underhanded compliment or not;). I must admit, even the lighter styles are much more palatable when brewed at home. I figured the multistep mash and moderate flavor and aroma hops additions with Saaz should make this one broadly session worthy IMHO with a little extra ABV and and taste than off the shelf.
