I've been aware of this forum for a little while now - after making what was my fourth batch of beer recently (extract brewer here), I decided this isn't going to be some simple phase I'm in, but part of a lifestyle; so why not acquaint myself with fellow brewers? - Cheers.

Thanks, I'm from the far north side myself, near Edgewater/Rogers Park.

You guys have good LHBS nearby? Brew and Grow is the closest by me - usually go there, if I'm not ordering from MidwestSupplies...

I've heard of a decent shop in St Charles...

Shop in STC is decent.. One in Aurora is alright. I've always ordered from Midwest Supplies but recently switch to Brew And Grow... most product in stock i've seen around and will most likely be cheaper than buying online, especially if you are buying your grains by the Sack.. I would like to check out the Chicago Group Buys that SudsMcGee mentioned.. any more info?

I've got to be sure to be a part of the next one...

The main group buy is just closing so it's too late to add anything on. The thread was here though: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f174/new-chicago-group-buy-281111/

It looks like there is another one starting up here https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f174/new-chicago-bulk-buy-285981/
