About to try to make my first lager, have everything set up and ready. Chiller is set at 46 for the ferment. Question: after I cook and cool the wort, should I chill it to 46 and then pitch or just pitch around 70ish and slam it in the chiller??

Chill it to 46 before pitching. I always chill my lagers and ales to pitching temp first and it has worked out well. I'm hoping you made a nice starter for that Helles :)

Still new to brewing. Using a brewers best kit. It comes with a dry yeast you just rehydrate. Nothing fancy. :(

Ah..ok. After you rehydrate, slowly temper it down to within about 10F of your wort before pitching. Just mix small amounts of cold wort with it over about a 30 min period. Since you are adding wort the yeast won't starve during this tempering period.
