Would unknown (recycled, food grade, etc.) HDPE lids be OK to use as it may or may not come into contact with krausen?

Most of my lids have ridges all over the inside of them that tear up my little sponges. But I bought an HDPE lid that has the ridges on the outside and it's all smooth on the inside. I would like to change them out if it's not a potential health hazard.

What say you?

Any krausen that touches it seems to stay there... No worries then?

Yup. And it isnt like regular plastic is rat poison. As long as the beer isnt marinating in it for weeks you shouldnt have any problems.
