I just purchased a packet of GY054 for a HT clone. The pack says it has 200 billion viable cells which I know is enough for a 5 gallon batch. Deciding to do a ten gallon batch I know I have to step up what I have. I built a stir plate that I finish just last night (never done starters) and picked up a packet of extra light malt extract. Should I build up enough to do the ten gallons then wash the yeast to keep for the future or should I make enough for the ten gallons and some extra to place in the fridge? Either way, what is the proper steps?
Pardon the question, I know it has been answered before, just looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I don't want to screw things up before I even begin. Thanks in advance.
