Hello Grainfather users,

I just got a unit and have a few questions about using the pump. Since there's no tap, all the liquid in the unit needs to be pumped out (or dumped) after usage. I was wondering if when pumping liquid out, one should be careful that the pump doesn't run dry. Say, if I am pumping all the wort through the chiller into the fermenter, could I leave it to do its thing or do I need to stay there and monitor it? Should I shut the pump off before it hits the filter level or does it not matter much? Same goes for cleaning procedures.

Thanks a bunch!

Do not run the pump dry. I believe it says it on the pump itself (but that's covered by the housing). Pump out your wort, turn off when it is done and then you can dump/clean.
