Beautiful Colorado, USA!
I am working on a nice golden ale. Something nice and enjoyable from a homebrewer's perspective, but something my BMC friends might enjoy. (Been working on them).

So far, my recipe is as follows:

This is a malt extract recipe.

Grains (20 minute steep slightly over 150 degrees)
.25 lbs belgian cara-pils (head retention)
.25 lbs dextrine malt (body)
.25 crystal malt 20" L (head, color and flavor)
.25 lbs american caramel 20" L (head, color and flavor)

Malt extract
3 lbs light liquid malt extract
2.5 lbs muntons dry light malt extract

Other
6 oz belgian clear candi sugar (mouthfeel, alcohol, head)

Hops (I've never tried fuggles before, the whole hops are sold in 2 oz bags, and it rhymes with one of my dog's nicknames, Buggles)
1 oz Fuggles @ full boil
.5 oz fuggles @ 30 mins
.5 oz fuggles @ 10 mins

Yeast: White Labs WLP001 California ale
Primer: 1 1/4 cup DME

Any advice or modifications anybody can recommend?

Not an expert, but I think that looks pretty good. A bit of crystal malt for the colour seems appropriate, and you want to keep your extract light or else you're going to wind up with an amber ale.

Fuggles aren't the most bitter hops in the world. But they are perfectly good in lots of beers. Generally, they were the traditional hop for english bitters, I think.

Thank you. I was rather happy with my original formulation.

Well, my recipe got changed at the last moment. HBS store was short on goodies.

Grains:
1/2 lb carastan 20
1/2 lb dexterine

Hops:
Goldings (lower AA, increased to 2.5 oz)

Other:
Belgian candy sugar replaced by 1 lb rice syrup solids

Both EKG and Fuggle(s) are nice hops for milds, goldens etc. I use both in my CoC Brown (although I'm bittering with Columbus). The rice syrup will boost the ABV without adding anything else, which is fine in a golden.
