Quick question for everyone. Is there any limit on how many bines you allow to climb the trellis? All my rhizomes produced either 2 or 3 shoots and are headed for the twine.
thanks
For your first year, let them go crazy. You want as much green leaf surface as possible to get the most amount of energy into the ground to help the crown get established. I recommend not cutting any bines. (You can trim off the bottom couple feet of leaves off the bines once they've reached 6-7' to keep insects from finding a home in the damp protected area at the bottom of your bines.)
