Hey all,
I am going to take the lead in our club barrel project. We have one wine barrel and need to fill it in 2 months, or so. I would like to build a giant mash tun, so that everyone would only have to bring a burner and boil pot.
The idea came from a talk at NHC in Baltimore.

Anyone have any experience with this or pics?

I am thinking about getting an ibc tote, cutting the top off and putting a manifold in the bottom. This will need to hold about 140-150# of grain and the appropriate water volume.

Thanks for any input or ideas

150 pounds of grain at 1.25 qts/pound should take less than 60 gallons of space. A tote would be overkill.

Thanks for the suggestion imasickboy. Cellar is now up to 2 barrels and possibly 2 more by brew day.

This is how you should do it. Contact a diary supply company as they are taking in trade ins most of the time up here in Ontario, Canada. Failing that I have one for sale! You could use it and resell it.
