I find myself in the fortunate position of being sent to Cologne, Germany for work. I have a short four days to see what I can see. Definitely doing Belgium to get to at least one Abbey (trying to reserve beer at Westvelteren, still have to wait two days to call), and beyond that I'm open to suggestions.

If you have just a few days in the region what would be the MUST DO (see also: drink) for the avid beer fan?

You do realize that St. Sixtus Abbey is on the opposite side of Belgium from Cologne, don't you? I wouldn't spend one of four days on an 8 hour plus trip over there.

Be sure to visit the the Dom in Cologne, it's awe inspiring.

Go up to Düsseldorf and drink Alt. It's a short train ride (30 minutes each way).
