I kind of see two options:

1. use only the short black "normal" tap handles and put them at a level on the fridge door to avoid being bumped open when you open the freezer door or...
2. lock the fridge door and the freezer door together so both open when you pull on the door handle. You could then place your taps as high as possible on the fridge door without having to worry about accidentally opening a tap.

You may want to remove the interior door shelving to give yourself a little more room or leave it and just drill through the plastic shelf material on the door.

I suppose there is a third option of putting the taps on the side of the fridge but then you have to make sure you don't hit a coolant line while drilling.
