In an effort to reduce hot side aeration would filling my bk and mash tun from the bottoms be a bad idea? I use upsidedown keggles with tri clover center drains. Boil kettle I can't see any issues besides maybe the fill tube not getting steralized?? I can imagine the grain may float up on dough in, should be OK for the second sparge mash...?? Any comments before I change my plumbing and give it a whirl?

I fill everything from the bottom. Less work. I fill my mlt with strike water and then dump grain and stir. Works fine. I don't think HSA is really a big deal. At least I don't have any issues with it in my process.

Filling the mash tun will not make any difference, because you are about to pour in a whole bunch of grain that will trap air, then stir it vigorously into the liquor.

For filling the boil kettle, either fill it through the valve, or just use a long enough hose to reach the bottom if filling from the top.

HSA is pretty unlikely, I think, but it doesn't really cost anything to use a long enough hose to reach the bottom of the boil kettle to prevent splashing.

I fill my BK from the bottom b/c it is easier and I can keep it covered with the lid while filling and heating before the boil. The MT I don't bother with and it only takes a minute to pump the hot water into.
