Hello. I am a fairly new brewer, this will be my first time using a food grade bucket and hops. My question is regarding the quality of the food grade bucket. I got them for free from my place of employment which is a Japanese restaurant. The buckets smell of soy sauce, and it seems impossible to rid them of the smell. I tried soaking one in baking soda for three days, and another in bleach for one day. Would it be inadvisable to simply work with these buckets ignoring the smell? Thanks everybody for reading!

If you can't get the smell out I wouldn't use them. Ale Pails are fairly cheap and you know they are clean.

You might want to try Oxie Clean it works wonders
