Made a starter without nutrient. White labs 001 in 1.5 starter with 150g dme. I also oxygenated the dme with pure O2 for about 5 secs. Then straight onto stirrer plate. Both wort and yeast were at room temp.

Pitched starter 16 hours ago in to 1.066. that was 20deg c. And was aerated with pure O2.

You'd think it'd be well on its way ?

Ignore that - it is going nicely.

I figured out what happened. The blow-off water container that I duck taped to the fermenter leg had slipped down the leg a little during the night - the blow-off hose was sitting just above the water level hence no bubbles.

So I've just zipped tied to the leg (which I normally do) and all is well.
