So, sometime in the past 2 hours my batch of Oatmeal Stout popped the stopper out of the carboy. I could have been open for 2 hours I figure... I've sanitized and replaced the stopper with a blowoff tube into a bucket of sanitizer, but...

How likely is it that my brew is contaminated? the beer is being fermented in the basement, so the air is pretty stagnant. I figure that helps.

I'd have a homebrew, but my first two batches are fermenting right meow!

Also, I will take your advice on always using a blowoff tube now.

Just bottled this batch of stout. It looked healthy, as you all said it would. I tasted a bit of it and it was pretty good flat. Gonna be a long two weeks...

I blew the top off my BMB fermenter once... Beer came out fine. Like others said, the out-gassing at that point is likely brisk enough to keep outside airborne stuff from getting in. Literal bugs would be my biggest concern, but, it is what it is now.
