Ao I made a half batch of chocolate porter on Sunday. Monday is was bubbling away like crazy. Tuesday it was barely bubbling at all. Is this normal?

It could be. The speed that the yeast blow through the easy sugars can vary but often 2-3 days for an ale. If the temperature is lower than usual it may be slower, done on the warm side it happens pretty fast.

What was your fermentation temp? As RM-MN said, temperature will affect your fermentation - too cold, and it'll slow, too warm and she'll rip right through.
