Thought I would brew up a quick 1.040 wort for my starters. I typically brew and freeze wort in 2L portions for starters.
Went to the store and got 7lb of two row, heated up my strike water and poured in the grains, and DOH... forgot to mill them.
That's one of the dumbest things I've done in awhile.

Oh well, I let them steep a bit, broke out the emulsifier and chopped 'em up right in the kettle. Worked pretty damn good considering... 5 gal @ 1.029 is about 33% mash efficiency. Ended up with about 3-1/2 gal of 1.040, which cost me about $7. Not that bad.
