I am wondering what is the difference between a bad propane burner versus a good one? I always though 1 big factor was the BTU/Hr, but recently I have seen some post raving about how bad they want the new Anvil Brewing Equipment ( http://www.anvilbrewing.com/High-Performance-Burner-p/anv-burner.htm ) burner. It only has 45,000 BTU/Hr. What am I missing? Why would I want to buy a $100 burner with such low BTU/Hr?

I'm wondering this too. I was just looking to upgrade when I saw the anvil burner. How is this supposed to compare to the Blichmann burner everybody talks so much about - especially since the BTU/hour is lower?

Wild guess....is the btu difference just a high vs low pressure regulator on basically the same burner?

Multiple advantages to some of the nicer burners:

Better heat distribution so those more of those BTU's make it into the wort.
Better resistance to wind.
Better frame design so fits multiple pot styles better and more securely.
Finer flame adjustment.
More efficient use of propane because of ll of the above.
