I was making a starter with WYEAST 1968. I activated the smack pack and left in our kitchen. I came home from and my wife had placed in our garage where it hit 95 degrees yesterday. I pitched into a starter. I've never used this strain before but it was very brown instead. Is it dead?

No
The temp would have to be around 120 to kill the yeast.

As a heads up, 1968 is highly flocculant and can drop early.

I like to pitch around 69-62 and allow to self rise to about 68. As fermentation slows raise the temp a few degrees and rouse the yeast to keep it active.
