Good morning all. I went to the LHBS the other day and picked up some stuff for my next brew, and the owner said that he was looking to get rid of a bag of Marris Otter that had been sitting around too long. SWMBO looked at me after hearing the price of $45, and told me to get it.
The "Best By" date on the bag is March 2014, so it's about 9 months past that date. That being said, do you guys and gals think that the diastatic power is still enough to mash on it's own or should I mix it with another base malt?
I'm looking to make a stout for this winter and I was thinking about using the MO, even if I have to mix it with some of the 2-row that I have kicking around. But if I can just use the MO as my base, that would give me more of the authentic English flavor.
Thanks again,
seph
