I recently made a counter flow chiller, and made a nice discovery. Using this hose, with 1/2" copper inserted, these will perfectly crimp the hose in place. This eliminates bulky and ugly hose clamps. You have to have have an appropriate crimp tool, which isn't cheap and most people won't have. I happen to have this tool (all the plumbing in my house is PEX). You may know a plumber or have one. THis tool is a bit cheaper, but I haven't used it, so I can't vouch for how well it works.

I discovered this after I had already soldered my fittings, but decided it was worth the effort to resolder everything. I just saw my crimp tool laying there, and the thought popped into my head. I tried it with some scrap, and i worked perfectly.
