I was a little too heavy handed when putting my airlock on and cracked the outside of the plastic. It doesn't appear to be leaking water. Is this a problem?

If its just the airlock and not broken glass, ou should be fine if its not leaking water. Airlocks are cheap. Go to your lhbs tommorow and buy 2 then replace the cracked one and you have one leftover for cases like this

No, just check levels from time to time. Soon enough, once fermentation kicks off, your beer will be blanketed with CO2. Some people, even pro breweries, do open fermentation. you should be fine.

Thanks, guys. This is my first batch so I was about to be beside myself in anger if I messed things up after all that work :p.
