I love original covers, not just new people singing other people's songs with littler or no twist(see Country Fried Hootie covering Wagon Wheel)

My favorite cover right now is a NSFW that I won't put here but Google Ben Folds Dre and you won't be sorry.

In the mean time I will leave you with this one

I don't hate Stairway, but I don't love it either. This version is beautiful, and I think Robert Plant liked it too. Make sure that you watch it instead of just listening so you can see the reactions from the band. Also, The drummer is Jason Bonham, John's son.

Back in the day Heart was known in their area as "Little Led Zepplin". I saw a cover of Battle of Evermore way back in '92 that blew me away.

I'm a fan of cover tunes. I enjoy seeing other arrangements of classic tunes. Just found out about "Me First and the Gimme Gimmes" who only do covers, usually in ska.

A favorite local band called The Gufs used to do a really cool cover of "Come Together." At least I thought it was really cool - I've heard others say stuff like "how dare they do anything to change that song! Blasphemy!" Anyway, here it is in okay sound quality. These guys used to do a cover of "Stepping Stone" from Paul Revere & The Raiders, too.

Mindy Smith doing Dolly Parton's "Jolene." Gotta say I like this better than the original because, hey, we all know what Dolly Parton looked like in the early '70s. Ain't no one going to take a guy away from her. Mindy Smith has a kind of wounded tone in her voice that makes you think she really could lose her fella.

Anyway, enough mushy stuff. Wasn't it awesome when Metallica did "Last Caress/Green Hell" and "So What" on Garage, Inc.!!

The Detroit Cobras covering The Marvelettes "I'll Keep Holding On"

Girl's got some power behind her voice.

The Ataris did a great job on Boys of Summer, but I couldn't find a video that didn't have muted audio.

I'm sure there are others...

Same band, covering REM's "Don't Go Back to Rockville"

Classic...The Clash covering Willie Williams' "Armagideon Time". Almost doesn't count as a cover, since 99% of people know the song because of The Clash.

Speaking of Hendrix... The only one qualified to play one of his songs... Stevie Ray Vaughan - Little Wing

Not the best version, but still incredible.

While I really like the original Everlast version, I think Jay Smith does it better on Swedish Idol. He does get some of the words and phrases wrong though.

P.S. That Hey Joe cover was fantastic. Stevie also does awesome Hendrix covers.
