I'm thinking on making one with the 3/8 copper inside garden hose. Anyone have any problems with the small tubing getting clogged? Does anyone run their wort through the CFC back to their BK too get all their wort down to temp. before put in fermenter?

Lots of people recirculate with a pump just as you describe. It allows the whole volume to chilled quicker as you mentioned. you should be fine.

I made that same chiller 25' long. My kettle gravity drains through the cfc in one pass to 68deg. Clogged one time in 10-12 batches, using hop bags now, and even sort of vorlouf the kettle until it runs clear, and then hook up the chiller.
