Corel - In over my head!

It has become brutally apparent that the part of my brain that can build a house, rebuild an engine, play the guitar, and make just about anything out of wood, is completely incapable of operating a graphic design program.

I got my hands on a copy of Corel10 Graphic Suite and am attempting to design a logo for my new brewing related small business venture. I have gotten nowhere, and very slowly I might add.

Can anyone give me some tips? Am I missing something? 6th graders can use these programs for #@%*$ sake!

On the upside, the frustration is making me enjoy more homebrew than usual.

I suggest googling a couple tutorials for various techniques in Corel. They might not exactly pertain to beer labels, but you'll get accustomed to the program and learn some of the tools.
