Cooler Spout?

I'm looking for a 10-gallon cooler to convert to a mash tun, but all the ones I see with a spout are kind you basically plug/unplug (rather than the ones with a dispenser button). Are these easily removeable? Do these work well for mash tuns?

You should be able to reach inside and unscrew the ring holding the spout. Mine is just like that one and it had a .975" hole there.

Awesome, because I ordered it. I realized my little 5gal cooler won't really do for anything beyond a session beer.

Yeah, you should be good. Mine was the same and I did what bigbeavk suggested. I needed a couple of washers and a 1/2" male thread thing (it screws onto where the ring came off) to accommodate a quick connect. I use mine for closed system cooling, but I imagine it would be similar.

It should unscrew. If not, you could always forcibly remove it or drill a hole somewhere else.
