So my brother and his new wife don't drink and I made some, what I thought was really good lemon soda. They said it tasted yeasty and I do notice it but being a beer drinker I didn't catch it.

I used Red Star - Premier Cuvée. Any ideas on a cleaner yeast strain for carbonation?

Thanks.

In all honesty Muntons Ale yeast is the best tasting from everything I've tried, people told me that Champagne yeast was the cleanest but I didn't think so after trying it a few times, so I tried muntons and it worked like a charm, I don't make a Root Beer batch without it!

I always get a cleaner taste if I use a yeast nutrient, though I've only ever used Red Star Pasteur Champagne and Premier Cuvee.

US-05 is about the cleanest youll get unless you get into liquid yeasts where there's hybrid ale/lager ones
