Hi guys,
I'm doing larges batches right now (30 gallons or so) and I'm having hard times chilling the worth to lager temperature.

Summer is close up here in Canada and the water's warm now.

I'm using a convoluted counterflow chiller, but it takes a really long time to cold the wort.

Any other idea?

would installing another CFC would help?

I also have a glycol system for my fermenters, maybe I could use it to cold the wort?

thanks for your ideas!

David

Even in winter i have a hard time getting to lager temps with a plate chiller... so i get as close as i can and let my refrigeration do the rest. It can take 4-8 hours, but it works reliably and is far less of a hassle than dealing with copious amounts of ice and spending tons of time recirculating ice water.
