so last friday, after a long week of work, i picked up the grains and yeast i needed to make a belgian wit and a bavarian hefeweizen.

saturday i brewed the wit and all went well. on sunday i brewed the hef. when i poured the grains into the mash tun i noticed that the wheat looked awfully dark brown and redish in color. i just went ahead and brewed it up.

called into the shop yesterday to see what was up and it appears that i got the german cara wheat instead of the standard german wheat.

oops! any thoughts on how this will turn out? is there hope that it will be drinkable? see below for the recipe.

7lbs - German Cara Wheat
4lbs - German Pilsner

1oz - Saaz @ 45 min.

Wyeast 3068

I imagine that is going to be one sweet (I mean literally malty sweet) beer. The carawheat is like the wheat version of crystal malt. And with only an oz of saaz to balance it...
