There'd be a pretty unmistakable burnt caramel aroma coming from your Brew Kettle and when you poured the wort into your fermenter you'd see evidence of scorching on the bottom of the pot.
Going by your description, it definitely sounds like there's no need to worry about having burnt your LME.
