I have a question regarding burner selection for PID control of the HLT which will also contain the HERMS coil.

After reviewing the various burner threads and pictures on the forums of people’s brew stands, it seems like people are just installing the same size burners under all 3 kettles.

But other than a large BTU burner for the Boil Kettle, shouldn't the burner for the HLT or MLT be smaller?

My goal is precise PID temperature control on the HLT for the HERMS coil without having to wait too long to heat up the strike water.

Any recommendations for the HLT burner size if I am going to be recirculating using a HERM coil?
