When using a pump to push wort through a HERMS coil is it correct that you loose a little wort that stays in the coil and the pump lines (since the pump can't run dry)? Seems like you would lose some wort during the mash with herms and then also when pumping from the mash tun into the boil kettle. Am I over looking something or is it just too small an amount to worry about?

When you sparge, you should pump your sparge water through the same pump and coil to push the wort through the coil.. You do loose some wort in the transfer between MT and Bk, but you account for this in your total volumes required. It takes a few brews to get your specific system down. So just brew and write down all volumes and notes during the brew.
