Has anyone ever added bourbon or whiskey soaked wood chips to a wine kit? If so when do you do it? What amount of wood chips, and how long do you leave it? I had a commercial bottle of wine that was fermented in a bourbon barrel and it tasked great... I thought I might be able to do the same with a wine kit & soaked wood chips. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would not recommend going outside the instructions on a kit but I have added red oak stick I toasted in oven 275 for 2 hours.A Merlot 1st racking about 200 grams, left it in carboy for 5 months. Best dry red i have ever made.

I fortified some wine with burbon. No chips. I just wanted a nice hint of burbon flavor. That's what I got. Espically after a year there is no heat just hints of aroma and taste.
