I did a search but came up with less than adequate info.

I was going to make a batch of rootbeer for my nephew for his birthday. But ass I read the instructions, it appears I may have an issue with bottle bombs if I use glass bottles. Obviously, I don't want this to happen.

So I ask you, oh great powers that be, for some advice.

Where can i get plastic bottles without having to drink a bunch of soda in the next couple of days?

I do have a keg system with counter pressure filler. While this would be a bit of a PITA, I could go this route.

You can get plastic PET bottles from most homebrew supply stores, i bought mine from northern brewer.

They're great & made to withstand the pressure.

What about buying a bunch of "cheap -store brand" 2 Lt. seltzer water bottles? I'm assuming they're between .65-$1.00 a bottle... (or something of that nature)
