I am looking to bottle one gallon of a recent pale ale to give to my brother and keg the rest. Is there anything I should worry about? For some reason I have myself convinced the one gallon I siphon out will not be properly mixed. I've always either bottled or kegged whole batches.

I do it all the time. I also do the thing people say not to and add sugar directly to the bottle. If I bulk prime, I do it in a 1 gallon jug, and use an auto siphon to bottle. More often than not I go straight from carboy to bottle after the keg is full.
