Hey all,

I made a kit recently after a few years of extract & all grain brewing- basically because my young kids take all my time. So I added a shed load of hops after 3 weeks in primary, went away for a week, took out hop bag & didnt get a chance to bottle til today. The day I removed the hops it smelled amazing, today I had a sip/smell and totally underwhelmed.
Does leaving it a week after removing hops reduce that dry hop characteristic?

I always thought it would degrade a little quicker than when sealed in bottles. I would think sitting in primary would compound this. While we do dry hop in primary,we don't let it sit in there any longer than is needed. Bottling it up now will help save some of the hop aroma/flavor. It'll become more pronounced as it conditions.

ya I only wanted the hops in there for 7 days, I usually bottles after this- just couldn't get the time. Hopefully in a couple of weeks the results will have improved.

Thanks for the reply
