I'm building my first keggle, sounds like most use a ball valve with a dip tube to drain the boil kettle into the fermentor. Is there anything wrong with just using my auto siphon that I use to rack to my secondary. The wort would be cooled already and it would be one less hole in the pot.
Am I missing something?

Oxidation would be my first concern. Yes you can use an auto syphon, but a valve is so much easier. A valve offers an easier and better alternative.

Yes you want oxygen. You could do it that way but it would just take a long time. Plus if you want to go with a chiller or do any kind of recirculation set up you need that hole. And if your siphon breaks or gets lost then what do you do?
