I picked up a Blichmann G1 Boiler Maker today and the the brewmometer looked like it had mold growing in it.

I went to the LHBS and they had the adjustable one for $72.99. The employee thought I could just swap the face somehow if I bought the straight one for 32.99. Getting it home, I don't see how that's possible. I'm sure I can just screw it in and have a straight thermometer though. Any thoughts?

It may be easier just to clean the face of the old one, if you can manage a way to get into it.

The temp probe on the adjustable may not be compatible with the fixed face. And to do that kind of swap runs the risk of fouling up its calibration.

Good luck.

If you get it figured out be sure to post your solution!
