My Blichman adjustable thermometer may be stuck. The faceplate, that is. The user manual describes the installation as screw it into the weldless fitting, then rotate the adjuster for orienting the dial up or down, then rotate the faceplate. It's the last part that won't move. I can tighten the probe end and adjust the face to point either up or down, but the dial is locked tight with the threads in the port. In the back of the dial, there appears to be two bolts, 7/8" and 5/8" which I believe should act as a lock nut to tighten the dial once you have it rotated to the desired position. Is this a correct assumption? Do I just need to crack these two nuts apart (hold the puns, please) to allow the dial to rotate?
