I made this beer last month:
https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f76/ginger-ale-3rd-place-2009-hbt-bjcp-comp-141080/

This is the second time I am making it and the first time was amazing. I tweaked a few things I used whole hops as a substitute for the one kind of hops in the recipe. I took my hydrometer reading and it came out to like 1.002 or 1.004 the fg in the recipe calls for 1.014. I really think it has something to do with my hydrometer. I can definitely smell alcohol in the beer and the hydrometer says that a reading like that usually means there is like 1% alcohol content...

Here is the hydrometer I have :

P.S. I do not like this new hydrometer and will definitely buy a new one.

The recipe says it was 1.049 but I am not 100% sure if that was the case it make have been a little lower. If it was I would say it was around 1.041-43 because I do remember it being a little off due to the fact that a spilled a little bit a grain while I started my mash... I think I only lost 6 oz. Could that have screwed it up??
