I listen to quite a few, some better than others, but that is something you will have to make up your own mind about, everyones taste differs... I commute 15 hours a week, and often listen on headphones at my desk as well, so I keep downloading even the sub standard shows as I consume so many hours a week... I also listen to a crap load of Military history podcasts...
In no particular order, just pulling them off my Ipad:
Those Who Brew
Homebrew Happy hour
Brewnology
Brewing business
Come and Brew It
Pubcast
Homebrew Bound
Four Brewers
Fermentation nation
Experimental brewing
Brew Talk online
Jamil Show
Sour hour
Dr Homebrew
Sunday Session
Brew Strong
Lunch Meat
lunch meat is by far the most informative podcast, especially the dark meat episodes. too bad it has been canned....
Great topic. There are so many podcasts out there now it can make ones head spin for hours. I personally don't care for the podcasts that get too much into commercialism, shopping and general long winded jibberish. I really don't tolerate the ones that use language that would make my Veteran Army Brother In Law blush. While I do like Basic Brewing and some of the BeerSmith ones, my personal favorite is Brewnology.
**Yes, I am one of the hosts....so a little personal bias there. But, honestly, you really do have to listen and judge for yourself. You do have a lot of options; use iTunes, Stitcher, Podcast Addict or whatever you prefer. Download a few and find something that hits your interest. Hope this helps.
I listen to the Beersmith podcast, but I must say, it is just pure information (i.e., it can be a bit dry). I remember going on a long road trip with my girlfriend and since I was driving and she was reading, I played Beersmith over the car stereo. At one point the podcast was going on about some mumbo-jumbo science and she started chuckling and said "Oh my god, I can't believe you willingly listen to this."
My favorite is probably Experimental Brewing with Denny and Drew. It also contains a lot of good info, but the presentation is considerably more upbeat and fun.
Jamil's Brewing with Style is pretty good once they get on topic. I like his co-hosts too. Little too much commercials and bs'ing. Interesting that his older shows especially first year were completely on point.
I guess i am on the other side of all of this. I love the session and basically anything the Brewing Network does. For pure information, I love Doctor Home Brew, but I actively am working my way through the entire archive of The Session and I think it is awesome because of how much it has taught me and how much fun it is to listen. I also appreciate the vulgarity.
Yeah - 20+ years of teaching HS kids has not done a whole lot to elevate the level of what I find funny...... So, I am very easily entertained by the humor on the brewing network.
I generally always listen to podcasts when I am brewing. The Session is about perfect listening while I brew - some home brewing stuff, some commercial brewing stuff, some humor.
There was a lunchmeat in August last year, I still hold out hope for an occasional episode to pop up...
Sour Hour and Basic Brewing for me
Also listen to some Steal This Beer - not brewing, but beer related and they interview a lot of pro brewers.
