So I tried searching this, but everyone asking seems to get further than me. I've been using about 3 different programs/calculators for my brew day, and would like to just consolidate down to BeerSmith, which I use for recipes only right now.

My problem is that I can't get it to calculate any sort of sparge volume at all. I can pick the Single Infusion mash, Batch Sparge option, and I just get the mash calculation, nothing for sparge. Is there any sort of setup I need to do to get it to calculate both mash and sparge for me?

Below the mash steps window where it shows 'mash in', it should show 'Sparge'.

I love beersmith... I use it for everything brewing related EXCEPT sparging.
Sparging is the one thing so simple, I don't use calculators... Simply collect and measure the first running, then figure out how much more volume is needed for the pre-boil volume. That's how much total sparge volume is needed. I split that evenly into two sparges. So simple.

Click on the brew steps sheet that you can print out. It will show you how much to sparge and in how many steps. All mine show three sparge steps but I always combine into two and do just fine.

This. I check my volumes with a calibrated dipstick and then determine my batch sparging by subtracting my initial volume from my usual preboil volume. I also usually divide the resultant sparge volume by 2 and do two sparges at 170F.
