Hey all,

I bought a pound of Helga with an AA of 5.6. I've never used it before. I am part of a SMaSH challenge using Pearl 2 Row and Helga.

Anyway, once I brew this SMaSH, I do want to get some of "my" brewing done and on the docket is a Helles. I've typically made it with the usual Saaz, Hallertau, etc. I am just wondering if Helga would make for a suitable, yet interesting, alternative to the typical Nobles. As the AAs are 5.6, I think I would choose something like Northern Brewer for the base bittering hop from the 90 minute mark, then just go with Helga the rest of the way.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Cheers!

Don't see why not based on descriptors.

Helga Hops:

A delicate floral, herbaceous aroma carries a bit of spice for a depth that works well in darker Lagers.

Saaz Hops:

Prized for its classic herbal, earthy, and spicy aroma.
